Macros
A macro is a few lines of slash commands that one press runs. Open the macro frame from the Macros button on the
menu bar, by typing /macro, or with a key of your own (Key bindings, Interface). Press New, give it a name and an
icon, write its lines, and drag it onto the action bar. Drag it back onto the frame to take it off the bar.
General macros are every one of your characters'; Character macros are this character's alone. You can keep 36 and 18, of up to 255 characters each. They are kept with your account (or, without one, this browser's characters), so they follow you to any browser you sign in on, and so does the order of your action bar.
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/cast Name, /use Name |
Use an ability. /use also drinks a potion by its name |
/castsequence reset=8/target A, B, C |
Use the next ability in the list each press, back to the first after the last |
/target Name, /targetenemy, /targetlasttarget, /cleartarget |
Choose who to aim at |
/assist Name |
Target what is fighting a party member |
/focus [Name], /clearfocus |
Keep a second creature in view, under your target, to aim at with @focus |
/startattack, /stopattack |
Start or stop swinging |
/petattack, /petfollow |
Send the priest's hound in, or call it back |
/drink |
Drink your best healing potion |
/stopmacro [conditions] |
Stop here when the conditions hold |
#showtooltip [Name] |
Show the ability a press would use as the macro's icon, with its cooldown |
| Anything else | A chat line or command: /p Pulling!, /y, /pvp on |
A press uses at most one ability, as the global cooldown would refuse a second; every other line still runs. A
/castsequence moves on to its next ability only when the one it is on is used: if it is refused (no target, out of
reach) or pressed during the global cooldown, the next press tries it again. reset= starts it over after so many
seconds, a new target, the end of a fight, or a modifier key held.
@mouseover is whoever is under the pointer as you press: a creature or player in the world or their nameplate, or a
unit frame — your target or focus frame, a party or pet frame, or the priest's heal ring.
Conditions
Put conditions in square brackets before what they choose, and separate the choices with ;. The first that holds is
taken: /cast [mod:shift] Shield Wall; Sunder. Conditions in one bracket must all hold; several brackets before a choice
are alternatives; [] always holds.
| Condition | Holds when |
|---|---|
@target, @focus, @player, @mouseover, @pet, @party1–@party4 |
Names who the rest are about, and who the ability is aimed at |
harm, help |
They can be fought, or healed |
exists, dead |
There is one, or they are dead |
mod, mod:shift, mod:ctrl, mod:alt |
A modifier key is held. Ctrl and Alt with an action bar key still press a macro |
combat |
You are fighting |
known:Name |
You have learned that ability |
Put no before any of them to turn it round: nodead, nomod, noexists. For example:
#showtooltip
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead] Sunder; [harm] Rend; Sunder
/startattack
