Vendors and the auction house
Money
Money comes in copper, silver, gold and platinum, a hundred of each to one of the next: 100 copper is a silver, 100 silver a gold, 100 gold a platinum. Prices are written short, so 1s 60c is 160 copper.
A new character starts with 10c. A creature pays between its level and 2 times its level in copper. Creatures below ground pay 2× that, wardens 13×, zone bosses 33×, and dungeon keepers 33×.
Vendors
Anyone who keeps a shop will buy anything from your bag or your pouch. A vendor pays an item's value and charges 4× it, a little less if you have the Haggler talent. The Bargainer talent raises what a vendor pays you, and Peddler's Whistle sells your common items from anywhere. Common wares never run out. Better ones are stocked one to three at a time on a shelf everyone shares, and come back one at a time once sold. Spitehold's vendors keep shop indoors on the market square and along its high streets, and the innkeeper and the publican sell a few things from behind their bars; all of them sell level 1 gear. An outpost's vendors sell at the lowest level of their zone's creatures, so what they have is worth the walk. You have to be within 6 m to trade. See who sells what.
Sold something by mistake? Every vendor keeps your last 20 sales and will sell any of them back for exactly what you got for it: open a shop and press Buy back. The list is your character's own; materials from your pouch are not on it.
The auction house
Tallis Crowe runs it from the auction house on the west side of Spitehold's market square. You do not set the price. The house sets it from how many of the same thing are up: one on its own fetches 4× its value, and the more there are, the less each fetches, down toward 1.5×. The house keeps 10% of each sale. It deals in materials as well as items, and holds at most 50 of any one kind. An item's level counts as part of its kind.
Every listing of a kind sells at the same price, the one on the board when you buy, and you always get the oldest one. You cannot buy your own. Materials you buy go into your pouch, so a full bag never stops you.
- Anything you have worn is bound to you, and the house will not take it. Sell it to a vendor instead.
- You can have up to 12 listings, each up for 2 days.
- You can take a listing back while it is up, but an item needs a free cell in your bag.
- An unsold listing waits 1 day for you to relist it, at the price of the moment, or take it back. After that the house sells it to a vendor for its value, with no cut, and pays you.
- You get paid even while you are away. Delete a character, though, and the house forgets everything it held for them: listings, unsold items and money owed.
